The rumors have been circulating around town for awhile. Did Eight Acres buy the old liquor store in town? I am here to confirm, yes it’s true!
After selling our Chapman Street location I was a little unsure what the right path would be for us. I was actually all geared up to open our Little Blue Shed at the farm. There were lots of ideas swirling in my head to make it a wonderful little stop before heading into Paw Paw.
Then we saw that the liquor store was going to be up for sale. But we had never officially seen it on the market. One phone call got us in the door to have look see. To be honest I just could not visualize the space being turned into my favorite place to bake.
But thankfully my husband could see things that I could not. After a whirlwind 2 weeks we were sitting down to sign the papers that would make it ours!
That next weekend was full of dry wall dust, sticky floors and sore muscles.
It has been a little over a month into the project. We have gotten 7 gigantic coolers moved out, most of the floors torn out, walls torn down and new ones built.
We have a few more weeks before the flooring will arrive. Until then the kitchen walls need to be covered with special, washable plastic. The bathrooms made wheelchair accessible, sub-flooring laid, walls painted and drop ceiling panels replaced. The bread oven is coming from California. Shipping date is set for April 6th.
I am hoping for an opening date the first week of May.
Now I need to decide just exactly we are going to be selling in our new store.
Stay tuned for more updates!
